The built-in library

Ember Noise ships with 24 stereo sounds at 48 kHz:

Noise: White Noise, Pink Noise, and Brown Noise.
Travel & rooms: Airplane Cabin, Car Interior, Train Modern, Train Wooden Carriage, Bedroom Fan 1, Bedroom Fan 2, Coffee Shop, and City Park.
Weather & water: Light Forest Rain, Rain on Tent, Soft Rain, Thunderstorm, Ocean Waves, Ocean Waves 2, River Stream, and River Stream 2.
Wildlife & atmosphere: Crickets, Spring Peeper, Fire, and Wind Through Trees.
Ambient music: Rings of Neptune, an ambient reworking of Gustav Holst’s Neptune, the Mystic.

The full library lives on your device and works in airplane mode.

Finding and organizing sounds

The picker searches names, categories, and tags without caring about case, punctuation, or accents. Filter the results with source chips for All, Ember, Imported, Favorites, or Removed, then narrow them with tag chips.

Tap the star on a sound to keep it in Favorites.
Add your own tags to a built-in sound.
Give an imported sound a broad category and tags.
Hold a sound row on iPhone or iPad to audition it by itself. On Mac, hold the headphones control or Space. Release to restore the mix.

Removing and restoring sounds

The minus button on a sound asks before hiding it from the library. Mixes and presets that already use it keep working. Open the Removed filter to restore an individual sound, or choose Restore Ember Library to bring back removed base-kit sounds and factory presets together.

Importing your own sounds

The sound picker’s Import from Files accepts audio Apple’s media frameworks can decode, up to 12 hours long. Ember Noise copies and normalizes it to a 48 kHz playback file, builds a waveform, and assigns it to the corner you were editing. Long recordings use streaming playback.

The Loop Editor gives each import IN and OUT points, zero-crossing click reduction, an adjustable seam crossfade up to one second, a focused seam preview, and Reset. Cancel restores the prior loop and EQ state; Done keeps the edits.

An imported sound cannot be deleted while it occupies a mixer corner. If a saved preset uses it, Ember Noise lets you keep that preset unavailable, replace the missing sound with White Noise when that would not create a duplicate, or remove the affected presets too.

The per-sound EQ

Every built-in or imported sound carries its own three-band parametric EQ:

Low shelf, mid bell, and high shelf, each with frequency, gain, and Q controls.
A live response curve you can shape by dragging the L/M/H nodes directly, from 40 Hz to 12 kHz.
Solo preview, which isolates the sound you’re shaping so you can hear the EQ without the rest of the blend.
A bypass toggle, so you can A/B your curve against the untouched sound.

Double-tap a response handle or slider to reset that control. Cancel reverts the whole editing session; Done commits it.

EQ settings are saved per sound and included in presets. Each preset retains its own curve for White Noise and every other assigned sound.
